The new Director Designate for the UWA Oceans Institute was announced at an industry forum recently.

Dr Carlos Duarte was announced as the Director Designate, taking over from Winthrop Professor Gary Kendrick. Dr Duarte stated that the institute would carry out research into how best to sustainably manage, utilise and govern the oceans as a resource for modern civilisation.

“The oceans have the potential to deliver the resources we need to support 9 billion people.”

Marisa is a globetrotting freelance writer, journalist and editor with cat for hire (her, not the cat).
