Queer Stories in October 2018

31 October, 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm AEDT
Howler, Melbourne, 7 Dawson Street, Brunswick
Melbourne,VictoriaAustralia
+ Google Map

I will be performing at Queer Stories in Melbourne on October 31. As I understand it, it's a storytelling initiative and I have been invited to tell a story. This has me a bit perplexed as I have never read out something I have written before, never performed it per se apart from perhaps reading poetry out. So this will be interesting. This is what Maeve Marsden, the producer, says about Queer Stories on their website: Queerstories is a storytelling, book and podcast, with regular events in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Featuring a diverse line up of LGBTQI+ Australians, Queerstories grew out of a desire to hear the stories LGBTQI+ people want to tell. Too often, the agenda is set by politics or the media, but there is more to being queer than coming out and getting married. The book is already out with stories from those who have already performed so I won't be in that. But there is a podcast because we do get recorded telling our stories at the event. You can come see me perform if you are free. But you will have to book soon as it is nearly sold out. Suggestions for the story I should perform are always welcome. Date: October 31, 2018 Time: 7:30 PM Venue: Howler, Melbourne, 7-11 Dawson Street, Brunswick Event link to RSVP and buy tickets: https://www.facebook.com/events/650357485338456/?active_tab=about Price: $20- $31.40 - Patreon supporters of Maeve get a discount.
