A NEW non-invasive technique for detecting cell turgor pressure in plant species may help WA farmers.
The device known as the Patch Clamp Pressure Probe invented by Professor Ulrich Zimmerman from the University of Wurzberg, Germany, was demonstrated at a lecture at UWA recently. The lecture focused on the method plants use to take up water in drought conditions, highlighting the need for a device to measure cell turgor pressure non-invasively.
