My latest article for Science Network WA was about a study on autism. I interviewed Dr. Emma Glasson who worked with other scientists in partnership with the Telethon Institute. The study looked at the diagnosis rates over the past ten years.

THE number of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders may have increased due to better diagnostic practices and methods, according to a recent study conducted by the Telethon Institute for Child Research.

Autism spectrum disorders refer to autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, Pervasive Developmental Disorder and other related disorders, according to the Autism Association of Western Australia. Autism often manifests as impaired social skills, impaired communication, or repetitive behaviour.
