    July 2016 Writing Calendar

    July 1, 2016 / 5 Comments

I decided to put this calendar for the month of June together on a whim. And then people loved it. So this is the monster list of everything even remotely writerly and literary that is going on in Perth and WA in the month of July 2016 from today onwards. So a few quick answers to questions: Will this list always be on this site? MEAA WA is keen to cross-post/host/something along those lines. This will also be cross-posted at Emily Paull‘s site. And possibly on DWOA once we tweak a few things. Can you compile a list for Victoria and Melbourne? Not at this point – no time to spare.…

    The Writing Calendar: June 2016

    June 9, 2016 / 2 Comments

I decided to put this calendar for the month of June together on a whim. And then it took forever. So this is the monster list of everything even remotely writerly and literary that is going on in Perth and WA in the month of June from today onwards. Anyone who says the arts is dead in Perth is wrong – it was tiring to compile and it is tiring to even contemplate. IF this does prove useful to you, let me know if you want me to do one each month. IF so, then Emily Paull will be helping to collate info & we will be cross posting here with…

Why my brain has no space and why I have no time

    May 11, 2016 / No Comments

So here is the news. I am going to slow down considerably on writing HIM. I can hear you: “You were supposed to finish by mid-April!” Yes, I know. The funny thing about books is that they don’t generally behave the way you would like them to. Ditto for life. So why am I decelerating on HIM at the moment? Lots of reasons but mostly: I want to enter the Vogel Awards and the Richell Prize. The deadline for Vogels is 31 May. The deadline for Richell is 1 June. I want to enter Sedition into the Vogels but that means editing Sedition before 31 May which at the moment…

Australia Day Book Giveaway Blog Hop

    January 25, 2013 / 15 Comments

So the lovely people at Book’d Out kickstarted this off. Basically each blog involved runs a competition of some sort and the point is to give away a book by an Australian author to a lucky winner or a book voucher or something like that. This means not only do I have to come up with the means by which you participate as a reader and I pick a winner but also what you will get if you do win. And it occurs to me that a book loved should be a book shared. And that I have some copies of my own book left. The competition starts: 25th January…
