The South Asian Women Writers Challenge 2014

Hot on the heels of the Australian Women Writers Challenge, comes this one to promote South Asian female writers (including those of South Asian origin living in Australia or elsewhere).

Never have I felt so loved. Because at some point, I will be one of those, hopefully, read as part of both challenges.

But this also gives me an excuse to read beyond Australia and the usual fare of writers I get from elsewhere. It gives me an excuse to connect with South Asian writers because most of the books I review for Australian Women Writers come from the writers themselves or through reader recommendations. I forsee something similar occurring for the South Asian challenge.

I encourage you to take it on and try it out. You don’t have to review, you can just read. I intend to try to read and review as much as possible. Given that I have AWW 2014 and my usual reviewing work for the West Australian, I am not sure how much I will be able to do and I am reluctant to pose a figure.

And in the interests of aiding and abetting such causes as much as possible, I will be attempting to create a reading list for the South Asian Women Writers Challenge as a guest post so please help out and leave your suggestions in the comments below.
